Title I is a federally funded program to support students who fall into the basic, below basic, and far below basic categories in either reading or math on the California State Standards Tests. Students are identified as Title I using multiple diagnostic measures. Test scores, grades, and teacher recommendations are all considered before students are identified as Title I. Once identified, students at West are offered reading and math intervention through semester electives for 7th grade and 8th graders and Exploratory rotations for 6th graders. Otherwise, identified Title I students are offered reading and math intervention after school. Our Title I assistant also works in several math and English classrooms to provide further help to our Title I students. If you have any questions or concerns regarding West's Title I Program, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail either coordinator.
Coordinators:
Dina Carter and Alyson Shields
Parent Workshops:
Throughout the school year, the Title I Coordinators offer informational parent meetings and reading, math, and standardized testing workshops. Please check for any flyers coming home if you are interested in attending.
